Slide Swimmer is not a lure you simply cast and reel in. It is a lure you steer. Hand-tuned in Japan by craftsmen who treat glide bait fishing as a discipline rather than a style. Where traditional glide baits lazily swing along an S-shaped path, Slide Swimmer answers a rod twitch with a 90-degree turn, stops dead or trembles slowly and hypnotically – like a baitfish too injured to escape yet too alive to ignore.
The body is built on a stainless steel frame with a reinforced joint that transfers energy from head to tail with no dead zones. The result is a lure that comes alive in current, pushes a wake in still water and provokes strikes from predators used to ignoring everything else.
Slide Swimmer 175 – 80 g – Slow Sinking – Knock Sound
The 175 Slow Sinking is the model that built the Slide Swimmer legend in European pike waters. At 80 g it casts like a bullet on standard baitcasting gear and sinks remarkably slowly – about 30 cm every two seconds. Fast enough to stay in the strike zone, slow enough to steer past sunken branches and weed edges without snagging.
The internal Knock Sound chamber gives a deep, resonant click with every rod twitch – a frequency tuned to trigger the lateral line in cold, clear water. Fish it with a snap-pause-snap rhythm: the lure darts left, stops, and the click echoes while the tail keeps up a subtle shimmer. Pike don't inspect this lure. They attack it.
Slide Swimmer 175 – 74 g – Floating – Silent
The 175 Floating is the finesse killer of the family. Slightly lighter and built to float high, it excels in shallow bays, over weed tops and anywhere a sinking lure would hide itself before a fish ever saw it. Silent construction removes the internal rattle, trading sound for a confident visual presentation – critical in pressured waters where pike have learned to link sound with danger.
A slow, steady retrieve produces a tight S-shaped path just below the surface. A strong twitch drives the head down while the tail kicks above the water, making a commotion that reads as a fleeing roach from twenty metres away.
What it is for and what tackle to use
- Fish: big pike.
- Where to fish: lakes, lagoons and rivers: the floating model for shallow bays and over weeds, the slow-sinking one for weed edges, branches and deeper spots.
- Size and weight: 175 mm, 80 g (slow sinking) or 74 g (floating).
- Type: a glide bait worked with rod movements.
- Rod: a powerful casting rod rated for about 60–150 g, with a baitcasting reel.
- Line: 0.30–0.40 mm braided line.
- Retrieve: rod twitches with pauses, or a slow steady retrieve.
- For pike: use a steel or titanium leader.
