The Reins Rockvibe Shad is a soft plastic lure from the Japanese maker Reins, with a ribbed body and a shad tail that vibrates on the retrieve. In Japan it is used for black bass, and its size and shape also make it a great fit for perch and zander in Lithuania.
The ribbed body moves more lively in the water and pushes more water than a smooth one, and the choice of sizes lets you match what the fish are feeding on at the time.
Sizes and pieces per pack (manufacturer data):
- 2″ (about 51 mm): 20 pcs.
- 2.3″ (about 58 mm): 15 pcs.
- 3″ (about 76 mm): 15 pcs.
Two-tone colours (082, 086, 088, B06 and B07) contain 80% of this amount: 16 pcs. in the 2″ size and 12 pcs. in the 2.3″ and 3″ sizes.
What it is for and what tackle to use
- Fish: perch (2″ and 2.3″), zander and larger perch (3″).
- Rig: a jig head, for example the DECOY VJ-30 Standard Head: 2–7 g for perch, 7–14 g for zander; also a drop shot rig or an offset hook with a sinker near weeds.
- Rod: for perch a light spinning rod with a casting weight of about 2–12 g; for zander a 7–28 g spinning rod.
- Line: 0.08–0.12 mm braided line with a 0.20–0.28 mm fluorocarbon leader.
- Retrieve: hops along the bottom (step jigging) or a steady retrieve just above the bottom.
- In pike waters: use a wire leader: pike often strike lures like this too.
The rod and line recommendations are a guide: they help you choose, but you can also fish with similar tackle you already own.
